Our first bites of baby food...

Kirk has his first bites of baby food this week!  We tried green beans on Wednesday, January 27.  Kirk seemed to like eating the green beans on Wednesday, but his excitement has gone down since then.  When I fed them to him again yesterday, he acted like I was poisoning him!  This picture is from Wednesday, though, and as you can see he was all smiles about his new food.  We will try another new food this week, I'm debating between peas and carrots.  We will go to our Breastfeeding Support Group meeting tomorrow evening, so Kirk will get weighed...I have a feeling he's gained a little.  He's a heavy boy to carry around these days!

Busy weekend!

Kirk had a busy weekend.  Saturday we went to Picasso Salon & Day Spa for an infant massage.  It was a gift from Connie (she has done my nails for years).  Beka massaged him and showed me how to massge him front to back, head to toe.  He seemed to like the massage and was a very good baby.  I am glad that she taught me how to do it and we will incorporate the massage into our nightly routine.  We went to the basketball game on Saturday night and were sadly dissappointed with the first HERD loss we've witnessed!  BOO!
Kirk played on his tummy and jumped so much today that he fell asleep in his jumper!  I had to run to make Jeremy come look at him sleeping.  We work so hard to get him to sleep at night and for naps; we both couldn't believe that he just fell asleep on his face.  He quickly woke up after I snapped this picture and started jumping again!  We laughed ourselves sick!

Kirk is so happy to be "Mommy's Valentine!"  He's getting so big so fast!

Splish Splash!

Kirk really enjoys his bath time these days.  He holds on to the sides of the tub to pull himself up and holds on to toys.  He kicks and splashes all over the place.  He tries to grab his feet and he shoves everything in his mouth!  He loves squeaky toys and laughs whenever we squeak them.

H-E-R-D....Gooooo HERD!

The Walkers and the Littletons enjoying some HERD hoops...another exciting win!
Kirk enjoyed another Herd basketball game on Saturday, January 16. The Cam is getting crowded these days since the HERD has proved to be a great team to watch this season. Kirk seems to like slam dunks and much as his mama and doesn't even mind being a little squished when our row is packed with people! He got lots of attention from the folks around us and stared at the game the whole time. We saw lots of friends and visited with cousin Bella a little after the game. The late game made him a very tired boy and he was happy to get home to his cozy crib!

Kirk is five months old!

Kirk is five months old! It is hard to believe five months have gone by. He battled RSV this month and is recovering slowly. He also started going to a new babysitter a week late because of his illness. We have been with Mandy for a week and we are all so happy. Kirk gets to spend the day with a few other kiddos and one of them is his precious cousin Isabella! Mandy says Kirk spends his day following all the action and laughing at the kids who entertain him. He is napping and eating better and comes home tired in the evening. Mandy's house is just three blocks from ours and our morning and afternoon routines are much easier.

He is really enjoying eating his oatmeal and is settling into a feeding and napping routine. He slept in his co-sleeper some when he was so sick, but he has been back in his crib for a while now. He really seems to like his crib and still loves his mobile and rainforest TV. He is jumping his legs off in his jumper and we have already raised it up two notches! As I hold up one of his newborn onesies to his five month old body, I am so amazed at how our little baby has grown. The changes are so precious to watch, and when he grabs his toes and our little dog Astro's ears....I smile and I am filled with joy. I can't wait to see what the next five months bring our way!

Sick baby....

It has been a rough two weeks at the Walker house. On Sunday, January 3, Kirk ran a low grade fever and began to show symptoms of sickness. We made our first trip to the doctor on Monday and Kirk was diagnosed with a cold. A few days later and we made another trip to the doctor when the fever and symptoms seemed to get worse. Kirk tested positive for RSV and he was a very sick little boy. Jeremy and I both got sick also and we were all exhausted and felt terrible! After a third trip to the doctor, we finally got an anitbiotic and now Kirk and his parents are feeling much better. We are so thankful for all the thoughts, prayers, and helpful things our families and friends did for us during this difficult time. We are so happy to have our smiling baby back!

Kirk loves HERD basketball!

Kirk really seems to enjoy HERD basketball games! We went to a game on Saturday afternoon and he sat quietly the whole time. He stared at the court, and we think he seriously followed the game! He jumped a little when the buzzer went off, but otherwise he seemed happpy to be there. We saw Dr. Kellar (the doctor who delieverd Kirk) and she was suprised at how big he has gotten. She is expecting a baby boy of her own soon, so she practiced holding Kirk for a while. We also saw the Dorseys who were visiting from Charlotte. He was happy to sit and visit with them for a while, too. It was good to see some familiar faces and some good HERD hoops! Another win for our favorite team! H-E-R-D......GO HERD!!!
After the game, Jeremy and I got the nerve up to take Kirk to his first restaurant. We went to Buddy's Barbecue, one of our favorites--the place we always went to eat after basketball games BEFORE he was born. After months of take out food, we finally ventured inside as a family. He was a very good boy; he sat in the booth and played with his toys. He even smiled a few times and only a few fussy moments.

Kirk wasn't too impressed with eating out...he fell asleep! He had a big day!
