Goodbye Daddy...

This is a picture of Jeremy and Kirk right before Jeremy took off on a plane bound for New Jersey.  He will be there for a week long training for work.  Kirk and I were so sad to see him go.  This is the first time we've been apart since Kirk was born and Jeremy is sad to miss a week of his little life.  I am sad and scared to be alone;  Jeremy does so much for us at home.  It will be rough making it to work and the babysitter's this week.  We will both miss him and Kirk is not allowed to gain any new skills while he is gone!  We miss you Daddy, and we want you home soon!

Curious Kirk...

I think Kirk might have been confused why cousin Holden looked just like him.....haha!  We went to church on Valentine's Day, and we decided that Kirk and Holden should  wear their matching sweaters that Poppy and Lisa got them.  They were so cute!  Uncle Brandon and Jeremy held them up together and they stared at each other for a while...and then Kirk started jumping.  Ha!  The boys are growing so fast and are so much fun. We had a good visit at Gramma Debi's that day.  She sure has her hands full with these two!

Well, our six month paperwork from Dr. Naegele said that we were supposed to "introduce a cup" soon.  So, I got some cups and decided to try it out.  I put a little bit of juice and a lot of water in this cup and gave it to Kirk.  He grabbed it up quick and started driving it like a steering wheel.  He decided to put it to his mouth and finally wrapped his lips around it and sucked in....hard.  The water/juice came pouring out and all over him!  He turned it to the side and started chewing on the spout.  I helped him tip it back a couple times and he gulped down some of it, but mostly he was wearing it.  His shirt and bib must have been really thirsty (a joke I've always shared with my school kiddos)!  We'll keep practicing and hopefully get some cup skills soon.  He looks so grown up holding it; I'm not in a hurry to push all the big boy things!

Kirk is six months old!

Kirk is six months old!  Where has the time gone?  It is hard to believe that just a little while ago, I was propping him up in this chair for these pictures each month and now he's about to wiggle out of it!  He has started doing so much lately:  rolling over front to back and back to front, pulling up on his hands and knees, grabbing his feet and sucking on his toes (I love this one!), babbling (dadadada...gagaga...it's precious!), eating just about everything (we haven't made it through all the first food fruits yet, but he seems to like everything!), and holding himself upright in his crib, reaching for toys and passing them from hand to hand, reaches out to be picked up,  he can sit up with just a teensy bit of help, and he can pull his socks off.  He sleeps through the night MOST of the time, but he wakes up super early to eat (5-6:00 a.m.!!).  Jeremy and I hope he's going through a growth spurt or we're in big trouble!  He eats all his baby food, cereal, loves his bottles, and has become much more fond of nursing from me.
He enjoys going to Mandy's through the week and most days he sticks to a nice little schedule.  He loves playing with the kids there.  Kirk is like a circus attraction, because the kiddos just have to look at him and he starts laughing and smiling!  Cousin Bella keeps him company at Mandy's too.  He and Bella stare and grab at each other.  He forgives her for puking on his socks this week, she was a sick little girl.  (hahaha)  He is still a jumping fool and jumps pretty much all the time (in and out of his jumper!).
What an amazing little boy he is.  I never imagined I could love something so much.  I am sad to leave him each morning and so excited to pick him up in the afternoons and hear about his day.  I love cuddling him in my arms each night.  His smile melts my heart instantly.  I live for our weekends together and right about now, I'd like for time to stand still....just for a little bit.  My precious little boy is half a year old, and his Mommy and Daddy love him...to the moon and back!

New toys!

We had to stay home today since our babysitter Mandy's daughter was sick, so I figured we'd try out a new toy from Christmas.  I hadn't opened this toy from Kirk's Poppy and Lisa  since he wasn't sitting up well at Christmas.  I figured he'd enjoy it now and get to practice his new sitting skills.  He really seemed to like grabbing the ball (it's tethered to the base) and touching the buttons on the base.  He grabbed the ball and tried to put it in his mouth of course!  It is so fun to watch him explore new things!

ALMOST on the move!

Kirk is pulling up on his hands and knees and bouncing back and forth!  He pumps his legs and sometimes throws himself forward.    He sometimes inches on his belly (we call it his inchworm move) and he rolls back and forth.  We can't believe how fast he has learned to pull his belly up off the ground and as soon as he figures out how to alternate his arms and legs he will be on the move for sure!  Oh no!

Kirk is practicing his almost crawling moves.  Watching him bounce back and forth is hilarious!

Kirk has now eaten green beans, carrots, and squash.  We think carrots have been his favorite so far.  He's getting pretty good at this spoon thing and opens his mouth and dives for the spoon.  I think he's discoverd that he likes eating food...he weighed 17.5 lbs. this week!  He's getting to be such a big (heavy) boy!
