Happy 6th birthday, Tanner!

Kirk was excited to celebrate Tanner's birthday with him at Jump Around on Friday, August 26th.  Kirk jumped right in with Tanner and his friends on the inflatables, and even let his Daddy and I climb and jump with him some.  The video above is so hilarious, and the laughing in the background is me.  Tanner is pushing Kirk up the slide with his head, and I laughed the whole time.  Poor Tanner broke a sweat lifting Kirk up there, and I almost peed my pants.  Poppy is talking to him the whole time, encouraging them to get up to the top.  Kirk had so much fun, and kept yelling at Tanner and his Poppy to "Watch me!  Look at me!"

Kirk liked playing with Tanner and his friends.

Tanner with his DS game from us, Lego Pirates of the Carribean....Kirk is enjoying a cupcake, of course!

Kirk is telling his Poppy what he is "bout to do."  He was crawling through the tunnel and bouncing on the other side!

Kirk and Jeremy enjoyed drawing on his new Aqua Doodle this morning.  Kirk was amazed by stencils and drew lots of "snakes."  He also likes giving directions, like "Daddy, draw a car!"  Maybe he'll be a teacher someday like his Mama.....?

Are you ready for some football? Kirk sure is....

The Walkers went to our first football game of the season at Lawrence County High School on Friday, August 19.  Kirk LOVES football, and he yelled and cheered along with his Daddy and everyone around us. He blew his football whistle and loved when the bulldogs ran out of the "doghouse."  He was very concerned about who was in the doghouse after the players came out, and he kept calling Buford the bulldog (mascot) a donkey!  He said, "Well, the donkey is gone." after he left.....haha!  We made it to halftime, and Kirk was still cheering on our way out.  I think it's going to be a fun football season.....bring on the HERD!!!  We are gearing up for our first MU home game on September 10.  We have new seats this year with our friends the Franciscos and we're very close to Dr. Kellar and her family!  Lots of little HERD fans to cheer!

Birthday Bash!

I still can't believe our little baby is 2 years old!  We celebrated his birthday on Sunday, August 14. We were so glad to share it with good friends and family.  Kirk had a BLAST running, climbing, and jumping on the inflatables.  He is a wild little boy, and most of my pictures were blurry!  I'm so proud to be his Mama, and I hope the next year goes by very slowly.....I just don't want him to grow up!

Kirk blowing out his 2 birthday candles.  He did it all by himself!

Kirk loves his new cash register from Mama and Daddy.  He likes to "check out" and "pay moneys."

Kirk wearing the "party hat" that he kept asking for the last few weeks.  He is eating one of 3 cupcakes that he devoured at the party.

Kirk climbed up and slid down this slide all by himself!  No fear at all, and strong as an ox...

Kirk jumping with Randi, his friend from day care...his teachers Miss Myra and Miss Carrie came to the party, too, but Kirk refused to pose for a picture, imagine that?!?

Kirk playing baseball with Tanner...he holds the bat like a professional (left handed) and can swing and hit way better than me!

Happy birthday, Kirk! I know it will seem like no time and I will be typing about his third birthday!  I never imagined that being a mother would be so wonderful, and that this little boy would change my life so much.  The past two years have been so amazing, and our love for him grows everyday.  We are so lucky to be his parents!

Countdown to birthday #2!

It is so hard for me to believe that almost 2 years have gone by since this precious picture was taken.  I can still feel his little warm body in my arms and his hot breath on my skin.  He was so tiny, and he just looked up at me with those little dark unfocused eyes.  I remember thinking in that moment how amazing it was that Jeremy and I were going to lead him through this life.  I hope that I have given him just a little bit of what he has given me over the last (almost) 2 years.  Jeremy and I have thanked God everyday for our little boy, and we pray that we can do the best we can for him.  We love him so very much, and we treasure each and every day.  I just want time to stand still, so he can be "Mama's boy" forever!  I included a few sentimental pictures below...I hope I can smile instead of cry at his birthday party this Sunday!
Happy birthday, Kirk Daniel Walker....the best little boy in the whole world!

Kirk (a few days old) and Daddy....look how tiny he looks in Jeremy's arms!

Kirk's first birthday pictures...look at his precious baby face!  He's such a big boy now!

At 2 years old, he can:  count to 20, identify colors, recognize the letter 'K,' hold a pencil/pen/crayon/marker with a pincer grasp, take the lid off and put the lid on a marker, identify basic shapes, draw a circle and a cross, count objects to 3, sing and do motions to many songs like "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and "Six Little Ducks," paint, identify several different species of dinosaurs, identify all zoo and farm animals, "read" books that have been read to him, like Goodnight Gorilla and If you Give a Mouse a Cookie (he even turns the pages himself), hit a baseball with a bat, kick a soccer ball, shoot a basketball into his hoop, throw a football, hit a golf ball with a club, jump with both feet off the floor, walk backwards, march, tip toe, undress himself, he is beginning to work with zippers and snaps, pee in the potty (sometimes),  make a "snake" out of play dough, blow a bubble, he has an unlimited vocabulary and uses descriptive and positional words,  uses the words "also" and "too" appropriately, he knows about 20 signs and uses them, has an impressive imagination and pretends with everything, brushes his own teeth (well), and he tells us when he is hungry, tired, sad, mad, happy, and when he needs help.  He gives the sweetest kisses and very "squeezy" hugs.  He loves popsicles, and "big drinks with a straw" (restaurant cups).  He also loves cookies, anything on Nick Jr., drawing, and anything with wheels.

Basically, he is the smartest little boy I know, and we are so proud of him!  He seems to just absorb everything we teach him and he learns so much from school.  His teachers tell us daily how impressed they are with everything that Kirk can say and do.  It is so fun to play and learn with him!
